A Little Historical Information You Might Like To Know
Tango started it's life journey in 1979 as a standard hairdressing salon in Queen Street, Brisbane. A move to Musgrave Road, Red Hill in 1982 saw beauty therapy services added. The year 1991 then led Tango to becoming sole Qld Agent and Distributers for The Paroque or Hair Again, a fibreglass based, suction wig, made in NSW by Wigs International, now no longer in existence.
Enquiries from that year's Yellow Pages showed there were many other people out there with so many forms of severe hairloss, other than Alopecia Totalis or Universalis. There were others who were accident or burn victims. There were also people who needed a salon to go to for camouflage and style change options. That interest added Nioxin and Mane to our knowledge and our product range.
So many different degrees of hair loss and so many people saying they no longer felt comfortable going to a salon when they discovered their hair loss because of the stigma they felt, began Tango specialising in the hair loss area, even though it continued to be a normal hair salon and still does.
Meeting Bev Wright, who shared her hair loss journey at a Qld Alopecia Support Group workshop in 1997, introduced Tango to the Freedom Hair, a soft, silicone based suction or vacuum wig she wore which was made in New Zealand. That's when Tango soon became and still is, the sole Qld Agent and Distributor for Freedom Wigs Ltd, the New Zealand manufacturer of the Freedom Hair.
A forced move from Red Hill in 2007 took Tango on the road until finding a new home at our current premises, 135 Waterworks Road, Ashgrove on 21st May 2009.
Tango, although specialising in the hair loss area and the Freedom Hair wig, is still a normal salon and continues to look after hairdressing, facial waxing and lash and brow tints for all our clients. The addition of a private consultation room also gives everyone using it, the privacy they may need.
